Android 7 and 8 still account for about 9% of UK devices in 2026. We support both, just with reduced animation. The APK has a separate build path for legacy chipsets that strips out the Vulkan rendering layer and falls back to OpenGL ES 2.0. You won’t see particle effects in the slot reels. You will see all the spins, payouts, and balance updates — the maths runs identically.
Watch the Storage permission. Android 7 still uses the old single-permission model where you grant storage once at install time. Newer Androids ask per session. The push notifications use HMS Core instead of FCM, which means notifications work but use Huawei’s delivery service.
Honest limitation: in-app payments on Huawei are slightly slower because we route around Google Pay. Use a card or PayPal instead and you won’t notice any difference. We’re tracking the AppGallery review status weekly — expect approval by July if their gambling-app policy doesn’t shift again.
